Have you ever experienced packing for vacation, wishing that you had packed a few important gems? Yeah? Well that was me recently. Over the course of the Summer, I have been traveling to different places. Some places that I have been to before and others that I visited for the first time. I made the decision to pack lightly but yet I missed a few key things.
During my travels from this Summer I began to evaluate what worked, what did not work and what I should pack for the next time. I know that I am not the only one that can benefit from this list, so here are 10 things to pack for your next vacation:
Extra Reading Book
Comfortable Sneakers over cute sneakers (Preferentially with memory foam in the inside)
Safety Pins (For fashion purposes)
Traveling Coffee/Tea Mug
Hand wipes (To keep in bag at all time)
Coin purse (To store extra coins)
Cocoa Butter or any natural oil (Though you can use it for almost everything, I like to use it as protection from the sun)
Ziploc Bags (For your snacks on a day of sightseeing)
Some things on this list, left me feeling totally unprepared for my trips. However, I am happy to point out what not to forget for my next trip and I was also able to help some people at the same time. Which marks a great thing for me!
Is there anything that I am missing in my list? Where are you headed next for vacation?
Today is the last day of Summer and I am content on how it went for me. This Summer was an unusual Summer for me due to three reasons.
1.My Baptism Anniversary
Last year I gave my life to Jesus Christ and shortly after I was baptized. I have lived a full year walking with Christ. This thought alone amazes me. While I reflect, I cant help myself from smiling. It’s been more than 365 days since I said yes to my lord and savior and my life has never been the same. Such a blissful journey, filled with miracle signs and wonders.
Girlll, It was as if God waiting for me at the door! As soon as I said yes, he began to do immediate changes in and through my life. Cleaning things out of my heart, mind and spirit. Easy is not a word that I would use, but I would say that this walk has been meaningful. I learned not to underestimate God on what he can do in a day, let alone one whole year!
I am humbly at peace and in awe with the love of God. Because of my life transformation, I stepped into this Summer with a new mind set prepared to overcome any challenge that came my way. And that I did! Glory to God!
2. Summer Teaching
At first this idea made me nervous because I am a fairly new teacher and I never taught during the summer. I had to remind myself that God has plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
In fact, at the end of it all I realized that I learned things I did not know about being a teacher and I also learned a lot about my students. My students and I shared unforgettable moments that I will forever cherish, throughout my teaching career. I admit that at times I felt like I was on a roller coaster BUT it was an experience that I had to go through in order to learn things that will help me improve as a teacher and overall a person.
I love to travel. I find pure joy in planning for a trip, sitting inside of a plane, checking in to a hotel and being a tourist. I love it all! This Summer I visited Washington D.C, Hawaii and Texas. I have been to Washington a few times in the past, I enjoy my visit all the time. I love visiting the African American Museum, it is filled with so much history and their gift shop is the bomb.com! Hawaii was breathtaking, I savored every bit of my stay. I recommend everyone to go visit. And Texas is my second home because my siblings reside there. Every time I visit I give and receive so much love. This was a highlight for me because I have not visited Texas since college and I missed my family so much, it was great to see them.
This was the first Summer of my life that I have moved so much in in such little time, collecting the beautiful memories. This is a Summer to remember.

✨ Here is an Afro Latina Woman who enjoys to travel. She uncovered this passion as a college student as she studied British Literature in the United Kingdom. During her studies, she was able to visit Caen, France and Barcelona, Spain. It was love at many sights. Two years later, she returned to the United Kingdom cruising through Europe for a month. In this photo she is casually smiling under the Tuscan sun. She shares her passion with her students in The Bronx and donates to college students who study overseas. She is currently mapping out her next travel ventures. A travel a year, will keep your mind awake and a healthy savings account will keep your options open! Travel on my brothers and sisters, travel on! 🛩 •
Besides eating and meeting cool folks, I love to travel!!! I enjoy the excitement of booking a trip, getting on the airplane, learning about a different culture, trying new food and best of all enjoying nature. There are so many places in the World that I am looking to visit, here are the top ten from my bucket list.
St.Vincent and The Grenadines
Cape Town, South Africa
Hong Kong, China
Whats on your travel Bucket List? Do we have a travel place in common?
If you have been to any of these places, do share your travel tales!
Although Barcelona has my heart, I fell in love with Castelldefels. There are less people around, authentic food and its reasonably priced compared to Barcelona. This town is famous for its long beach and it is only an hour away from Barcelona. Most people go to Barcelona because its obviously more popular, but face more crows, less authentic food and high prices. If you are looking to stay near a beach with less traffic, go for Castelldefels. The beach has a long boardwalk, that you can enjoy anytime of the day. It also has a number of restaurants on the beach, where you can enjoy the view followed by a few glasses of wine.
TRAVEL TIP: Whenever you are traveling, my biggest advice is to eat a nutritional breakfast before beginning your tour. You may ask why? Well, realistically tours and sightseeing require a ton of walking. Which means that you need a lot of energy, so that you can keep up. I learned this from experience, do not skip any meals when you are traveling.
Salta Violeta, located right by the beach in Castelldefels
Fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee
Ham and cheese croissant
La Sagrada Familia
One thing that I highly recommend, is to stop by at Mercado de La Boqueria. In the market there are tons of food vendors that offer high quality food, such as natural juice, fruits, cheese, ice cream, seafood, meat, cheese, oil, nuts and plenty of sweets. As you walk in you will be welcomed by a delicious smell in the air of food and the bright colors all over the market. Everything in the market is cheap, you can get a big bang out of your buck. Which is why I enjoy it so much!
These are my absolute favorite! I usually go for coconut, yum!
